HISTORY - EVEN YESTERDAY WAS HISTORY! COME AND ENJOY A WIDE RANGE OF TALKS ABOUT OUR PAST
The group is not restricted to History group members, but to anyone in the u3a who wants to attend.
We meet 10:00 - 12:00 noon at the Riverside Church on the High Street across the road from Meadowside Leisure Centre. Take the little footpath down the left hand side of the Church to the door at the end. You will find us in the room at the rear of the Church. Entry fee is £2 and tea/coffee is 20p
The History Group continues to thrive with a wide range of subjects. We have a full programme of talks for this year with emphasis on speakers from within our group. We continue to attract speakers from outside, but our aim has always been to encourage and use speakers from within the group. This has the advantage of not only encouraging members to research and develop an interest in a specific subject but gives them the confidence to deliver a talk using various kinds of audio visual equipment.
A ‘coffee/tea break’ is part of the morning and allows time for socialising of the members – time to talk about ideas and suggestions for future events or speakers for the group. We are a friendly group covering both local and general history. Our venue is both comfortable and accessible to all as it is in the middle of Burton and is wheelchair friendly.
Please feel free to come to any of the meetings – even if you just wish to try it out. We are sure you will find it very interesting and receive a warm welcome.
